Knez Personal Builders Receive Residential Construction Superintendent Designation

Knez Homes is pleased to announce that each of our Personal Builders have recently received the "Residential Construction Specialist" designation from the Home Builders Institute.

The Residential Construction Academy (RCA) is a Home Builders Institute (HBI) initiative established in 2001 that aims to bridge the critical skills gap that exists within the residential construction industry.

Joshua Edgell, Mark Maltry, David Franz and Michael Dragar are the only supervisers in Northeast Ohio who have achieved the RCS designation.

The Residential Construction Academy is charged with developing educational materials and programs based importantly on national standards developed by HBI and National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) member employees. The goal of such programming is to help shape a workforce that is skilled, knowledgeable and able to meet the needs of NAHB members today and well into the future.

Knez Homes is dedicated to continuing education initiatives.

Congratulations gentlemen!

Home Design Trends for 2006

What's going to be hot in home design next year? The Wall Street Journal printed an article with a few guesses based on what designers are seeing:
  • Sisal-rug lookalikes -- Sisal fiber rugs are being replaced with wool, cotten, and synthetic look-alikes that resist stains and other wear and tear.
  • Shapely Bathtubs -- Out with the rectangular built-ins and in with free-standing tubs with curves.
  • Midtone paints -- Bring on the neutral colors like khaki and taupe.
  • Glass wall tiles -- The glass segment of the tile industry is growing quickly becaue of its "range of finishes, from iridescent to glossy to matte."
  • Silk window curtains -- Solid-color silk curtains are seeing more sales because they match nicely with popular fabrics such as boucle and tweed.

Property Taxes Taxing?

See how your rates compare with neighboring communities

Here is a pop quiz for all of you home-owning citizens in Lake, Geauga, Cuyahoga and Ashtabula counties.

Three questions only.

And, please, no running off to rifle through that desk drawer or computer file where you have the records of your house payments or, if the mortgage is paid off, the latest tax bill
from the county.

The challenge here is to come up with correct answers, or educated guesses, off the top of your head.

  • Do you know how much you will pay in property taxes this year?
  • How are those property-tax dollars divided up?
  • Are your property taxes higher or lower than those of homeowners in neighboring communities?
